5 Easy Ways To Get Stuff Done

Struggling to find the motivation to get things done? You’re not alone. Even as I write this post, I’m struggling to do it because I’m overcome by pure exhaustion. Motivation comes and goes, the trick is to find ways to get stuff done, even when your motivation is gone. Here are some easy ways to commit to your goals, even when you’re not motivated.

#1. Keep It Simple

Make your plans as simple as possible. The easier it is to follow your plans, the easier it will be to accomplish your task. With every plan, there is a prep. Have everything you’ll need to accomplish that task before attempting to go at it. This will ensure that everything will run smoothly and quickly. It sucks when you start working on something and realize you don’t have all of the material you’ll need to complete it.

#2. Make Lists

I am all about making to-do lists to keep me on my toes. If I create a mental list of things-to-do, I promise I’ll forget what I’m getting ready to do while I’m getting ready to do it. Having a physical list, will give you that visual reminder and also give you gratification each time you are able to check something off of your list. Your focus will go from having all of these tasks to complete, to wanting to check off everything from your list instead.

#3. Just Do It

Put on your big girl pants and just do it. Whatever it is and no matter how unmotivated you feel, you have a task to do so suck it up and do it. I’m sure there are plenty of days when you don’t want to do your work on your job, but guess what, you still do it. If having a reward is the key, then reward yourself everytime you complete a task. The best rewards are words of praise, they are free, won’t create a bad habit, and won’t get in the way of your goals.

#4. Try The 20-10 Method

Spend 20 minutes straight working on your task with no distractions. After the 20 minutes are up, decide if you will take a 10-minute break or keep working. Once the 10-minutes are done, go back to working on your tasks for 20-minutes and so on. The goal is to want to just keep working because you just want to get it done. But, working in intervals with breaks in between is a great way to make a big task seem smaller and less intimidating. Use a timer to help you stay on track.

#5. Batch Tasks

Instead of just listing all of the stuff you have to do, batch similar task together. This concept helps to get things done quicker by doing all of the similar tasks at one time. Multitasking can cause you to get less done when your focus is all over the place.  Batch tasking makes you work more efficiently.
