How To Create a Self-Care Routine to Relax and Unwind

In order to create a self-care routine that will help you relax and unwind, you need to truly think about who you are and what works for you. Because we are all very different, my idea of self-care and relaxation will differ greatly from someone else.

To create a self-care routine to relax and unwind, let’s take a look into answering these three questions.

  1. What does self-care look like for me?
  2. What does relaxation feel like for me?
  3. How can I create a routine that will work best for me?

What Does Self-Care Look Like For Me

When I think of self-care, I simply think about things that I can do to show care for myself. Real simple, right? However, others may see it quite differently.

Here are some examples of what I think of when it comes to self-care:
  • meditation or devotion     
  • yoga and exercise       
  • soaking in a hot bath with candles     
  • giving myself or getting a manicure and pedicure       
  • drinking plenty of water        
  • eating healthy  
  • spending time with nature      
  • giving myself or getting a facial

What Does Relaxtion Feel Like For Me

This is a question that may seem like a nobrainer, but when was the last time you actually thought about what relaxation feels like? And are you truly relaxed when you’re trying to relax? Here is the time to gain some self discovery. In order for you to find a self-care routine that will actually help you relax and unwind, you need to think about what relaxation should actually look and feel like. To me, that means being able to turn off, clear your mind, a sense of internal peace. 

How Can I Create a Self-Care Routune That Will Work For Me

Once you know what relaxtion feels like for you, now think about how you feel when practicing the self-care examples you want to incorporate into your routine. Decide when and how you are going to practice your chosen self-care practices. Add them into your weekly routine and you are in your way to feeling relaxed while you unwind.
