How To Make Mother’s Day Special During Quarantine

For many of us, Mothe’s Day this year will not be the same. Even if we are off of a state-mandated lockdown, some of us are still choosing to practice social distancing to make sure we are keeping ourselves and our loved ones safe.

I decided to share some great ways to make Mother’s Day just as special this year during quarantine.

H

#1 Create a Video Greeting and send it to your mom. We’ve seen these floating around for birthdays and Mother’s Day sounds like another great reason to create one. Have the entire family send in a clip of them saying something special to mom, and send her the compilated video electronically.

H

#2 Do a family virtual meeting. Set up a time for everyone to join in on a family virtual meeting and have a mini-reunion while telling mom just how much you love and miss her. With all of the virtual meetings happening for work and school, everyone should be comfortable with doing this.

H

#3 Order some of her favorite food and have it delivered to her. Moms shouldn’t have to cook on their special day. Plus, there are so many delivery services to use, this would be a great way to support a local business.

H

#4 Drive by greeting. If you live close enough, organize a drive-by greeting for your mom. Invite all of the family members who are near to get in their cars and tag along.  Create posters and signs to stake into the yard or to just hang on the side of the car.

H

#5 Give her an IOU getaway vacation. We don’t know when life will be back to normal and travel bands will be lifted, but she’ll enjoy and IOU getaway until you can actually go. Go all in planning out the details as much as possible with destination and lodging, as well as possible attractions and excursions with a date that’s TBD. Make sure you have the money set aside to book everything as soon as you can to hold up your end of the bargain.
