How To Stick to Your Goals

We are a week into the New Year, we’ve made our goals, now, how do we stick to them?

Like I’ve said before, the easiest part about your goals is coming up with them. Now let’s figure out how to come up with goals that you will stick to.

#1. Make Goals That Have A Meaning to You

If you don’t have a connection with your goals that is meaningful, the likelihood of you sticking to your goals is minimal. Just like relationships, goals without a deep connection are not looked at as important and will end up being left behind with all of those forgotten resolutions.

#2. Speak It Into Existence

When you truly believe something to be true, you are more likely to see it through. I am a big believer in the power of the mind, and in this case, the power of the tongue. Your mind and tongue are connected in that what you think you say, what you say you believe. What we speak has power. This does not mean to run out and tell everyone about your goals and plans (I  think sometimes you should do the complete opposite. Others can alter your thinking with their negative words, and we don’t need that negativity in our lives getting in our way).

Speaking things into existence is when we speak about the things we want to happen enough and in time, they happen. When we focus our attention on something for long enough, it always manifests in some form or another. Which is why it’s important to stray away from negativity, speaking things into existence doesn’t discriminate. Speak with optimism and believe what you want to achieve will happen.

#3. Be Committed

So our goals are our new relationships, pretty much. And just like any relationship, a goal will not work if you are not committed to it. And don’t just commit, commit with the same level of passion you had when you set that goal. Commit the same level of passion you have for the outcome of that goal. If goals were easy to achieve, they wouldn’t be any need for goals. When you commit with passion you are committing yourself whole-heartedly to your future.

#4. Plan Ahead

Planning ahead is the key to accomplishing your goals. Without a plan, you are more likely to quit when things don’t go according to plan.

There’s a whole post with a step by step guide to planning your goals and actually achieving them here.

Now go and be great!
