10 Ways to Be Happier Right Now
Happiness is a state of being. This means whenever there’s change, your state can change.
So I’ve come up with ten easy ways to be happier right now. These tips are great habits to create to stay in a constant state of happiness.
#1. Be Positive
You are what you think. So approaching life with a positive attitude will definitely translate to a happier mood. Try to find the positive in all situation to dwell on.
#2. Don’t Take Criticism Personally
Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words may never hurt me. All lies. It’s so much easier to recover from a broken bone than it is from a hurtful word. But… when you realize that someone’s criticism of you has nothing to do with you and everything to do with them those hurtful words don’t hurt so much. Confident people don’t go around putting other people down, even when it’s truthful. When people talk down to others it’s really their way of showing what they don’t like about themselves. So go ahead and take yourself out of the equation.
#3. Spend Time Alone
To be happy you need balance, and that balance includes spending time with yourself. In order to get to a state of happiness, you need to understand what makes you happy and what ticks you off. There’s no better way to do this than spending quality time with yourself. Listen to your thoughts and desires. As long as they are in line with what God has for you, joy will definitely be present in your life.
#4. Stick to Routines
Another key to having balance in your life is to set routines. Having a thought out routine helps to eliminate the unexpected from happening. The key is to set aside time within your routine for things you love to do as well.
#5. Exercise Regularly
It is proven that being active helps to not only improve your physical health, but it also improves your emotional health. Even something as calming as Yoga will help to left your spirits. Add some sort of physical activity to your daily routine and watch your mood turn towards a positive side.
#6. Pamper Yourself
Don’t forget to take care of yourself first. I treated myself to a mani/pedi the other day and my whole mood shifted. Practicing self-care is a great way to relax and feel more confident about yourself.
#7. Be Kind
Do onto others how you want to be treated. Be kind to other people. Even if they are not kind to you, you will feel better about yourself and your life just by having a kind spirit. Volunteer your time, send a special note to a special person, open the door for a stranger. No matter how big or small your act of kindness is, it will definitely change your perspective on life.
#8. Show Gratitude
Be thankful for what you have and who you have in your life. The good, the bad, and the ugly. All of it is what lead you to the wonderful life you have. Appreciate what you have and remember to give thanks for it every day.
#9. Fall In Love With Yourself
As I’ve mentioned before, you must love yourself first. We are all made differently and in order to love yourself, you must accept that. Love all of your quirks and blemishes, as they are your fingerprints. They are what makes you different from everyone else. If there is something about yourself that’s a result of your poor habits, fix it, and keep loving yourself throughout the process.
#10. Focus on Faith
The ultimate key to living a joyous life is to keep God at the center of it all. Meditate on His word and build a strong friendship with Him. God wants for us to want Him. And when you have God as your center, nothing can break you down!
