7 days of kindness challenge

7 Days Of Kindness Challenge

It’s National Love Is Kind Day!

For this week, I challenged myself to perform seven random acts of kindness. One for each day leading up to today.

You wouldn’t think that being kind would be a challenge, but oddly enough it is.

Not because we’re not kind people. Some days just go by as normal days.

You were not mean to anyone, you just didn’t purposely show an act of kindness. This means going above and beyond your normal.

Day 1: Do Something That Will Make Someone Happy

Today I went to a car-meet with my boyfriend. We all know I have no interest in cars other than the one I use to get me from point A to point B. Well, he is. I knew that waking up early on a Saturday morning and going to the car-meet with him would make him happy, so I decided to go. While there, I suggested taking pictures for him to help him start building content to start his Instagram page.

Day 2: Take A Friend To Church/Mass

Today, I asked my boyfriend to go to church with me. I offered to go to a new church with him, one that he’s been saying he’s wanted to go to since before we started dating, but never got the nerve to go. I offered to go with him in the past and was shut down immediately. But, this time, I knew how important this would be for him, so I was more persuasive. He enjoyed himself and the message, he volunteered to go back next week!

Day 3: Clean Your Space

A great way to show kindness to yourself, which is just as important as showing it to others, is to clean your space. So today, that what I did. I cleaned my entire house (not the garage), and it made me feel so much better.

Day 4: Go Vegetarian For A Day

No pressure to give up your meaty proteins for life, but giving them up for one day is doing your part to show kindness to nature. For today, I didn’t eat any poultry or seafood and stuck to a vegetarian diet. This is also a great way to show kindness to yourself as well. Eating this way for a day, my body felt regulated and had more energy.

Day 5: Pick Up Trash Around Town

This is something I find myself doing often, and it puzzles me. Today, there were a bunch of napkins on the ground outside of an ice cream shop. Unfortunately, whoever dropped the napkins didn’t care to pick them up, which caused all of these napkins to go flying with the wind. So, what did I do, I tried to pick up as many of them as I could and place them in the trash (they did not have recycling). A great way to show kindness for where you live and visit is to pick up trash when you see it. We also need to educate others on how to properly discard things in public places.

Day 6: Leave A Surprise In Your Mailbox For Your Mail Carrier

This one is super easy, but how often do we think to do it? For today, I left a thank you card in my mailbox for my mail carrier. I wrote a personalized thank you note for him, to show him that I appreciate all he does.

Day 7: Start a Fundraiser

Today, I started a fundraiser for my upcoming 4th-graders. Working at a Title 1 school means not having all of the resources available for your students. Although we get government funding, that can only be used for specific things. If you would love to support my students, please head over and donate. The site does charge a small fee to stay in business, you may opt-out if you’d rather not pay that fee, I’ll get all of the materials that I am requesting either way.
