embracing your flaws

Embracing Your Flaws

Last week I shared my letter to my younger self. In doing so, I really had to take a deeper look into my life.

This included the ups and the downs. The challenges and triumphs. The beauty and the flaws.

One of the many things that I’ve learned throughout my life is how to embrace my flaws.

When God created man, He first created man in His own image. And thousands of years before even my great grandparents took their first breaths, God had already written my story.

If that doesn’t cause you to shift the way you fully see yourself, then I don’t know what will.

When I truly embraced what that meant, I started looking at myself in a whole different light.

We were all uniquely created. No two people look exactly the same, not even identical twins. And I think that is so dang special.

Our differences are special, not weird, and definitely not flaws.

The way you look and the way you were created is your own special recipe. And that is pretty awesome.

Knowing that you are one of a kind is an ultra special gift to hold on to and cherish.

No one was made perfect, we all have one eye that’s bigger than the other. One ear that’s higher than the other. One leg is longer than the other. And that’s just the way we were meant to be.

Some of us have added flavor in our recipes with moles and/or freckles. Think about that, God took extra time to give you added flavor. It was not a mistake, so embrace it.

Society creates ins and outs, trends and faux pas, all based on someone’s insecurities.

Someone was jealous of another person’s height and decided to say something was wrong with them because they were tall or short. Media puts images out into the world, and it shifts our perspectives on what is true beauty. When in fact, it is all beautiful because it is how you are supposed to be, different.

When people point out what they think are my “flaws” my response to them is to go ask God about it. He created me this way, and He doesn’t make mistakes. My goal is to shift the way people look at themselves. I want people to be more accepting of who they are and embrace their natural-born differences.
