How To Create a Work From Home Schedule

Working from home seems great until it’s 5 pm and you haven’t gotten half of your work dome.

If there was a better scenario to have a work/life balance, working from home is definitely it! When you’re working from home you have to factor in all of the at-home distractions that you don’t when working elsewhere. You need to think about the tasks you need to complete for your homelife that need to be done throughout the day as well.

The good thing about working from home is you now have the flexibility to do so. The bad thing about working from home is you now have the flexibility to do so. That’s where having a work from home schedule comes in handy.

So, just how do you create a work from home schedule you ask? Well, just keep reading to find out how!

Here’s what my schedule looks like from Google Slides.

I used the 30 minutes slot as my measuring guide for all of the other slots to make sure my time frames were as accurate as possible. It’s not perfect, but for now, it works.

h

I used different colors and color families to organize the tasks. For example, all of my home and basic life tasks, like eating, are all the same family of blue.

h

I made sure to leave free time, because we could all use a break. Plus, free time helps when you need more time than expected to complete a task or when an emergency pops up.

By using a presentation slide it gave me more freedom with my format. I changed the page setup to 8.5×16 inches (legal size), created a table with 7×2 cells, and adjusted the bottom row of cells to extend the page. To add the task, I added a text box that I copied to create all of the other task slots. Using a text box, you are able to fill it in with any color you want and move the text box to any location on the table you’d like.

I also prefer to use Google slides, because Google docs automatically save themselves and are available on any device you use. So, no matter where I am, I have the ability to see my schedule, even on my phone, without having to save and share it. Just log into your Google account and all of your documents are there in the Drive.

Well, there you have it. Happy planning!
