How to Have a Stress Free Morning Routine

It’s Friday, and today we are fixing our morning routines. All throughout the year I tried to figure out ways to have an organized morning to get my day off to a great start.  No matter what I tried, I just could not leave the house on time for work. Well this Summer, I finally figured out the best routine for a stress free morning which led to a more relaxing day.

Sleep

First things first, and it’s something I’m still guilty about. And that is getting enough sleep. It’s recommended that adults get 7-8 hours of uninterrupted sleep each night. Since I didn’t have to wake up as early during the Summer, it was easier for me. However, I seem to not want to do anything until it’s bed time. That’s when everything I needed to do will magically pop back into my memory.  But I know getting enough sleep is so helpful for our bodies and for me, the people I have to be around because I can’t function properly. Sleep (rest) allows our bodies to rejuvenate mentally and physically.

Wake-up With a Positive attitude

If you’ve read my post about 5 Easy Ways to Love Yourself More, then this should already be on your daily to do list. However, it may be one of those things that slipped your mind as it has mine a time or two.  Instead of being grumpy about having to wake up (which you shouldn’t do if you get enough sleep) or being upset that you have to go into work (my issue), be thankful for being blessed with another day of life.  Try not to hit the snooze button more than once. Focus on thinking positive thoughts. You have another day to try being your best self, again!

Make Your Bed

For starters making your bed will give you that one less reason to get back into it. I know when I make my bed in the morning, I feel just a little more put together.  My room looks more organized and pretty. And I’ll have a nice made up bed to get into later that night.

Plan Ahead

As I mentioned in the Get Your Life post, I have a binder for everything. In my Home Binder, I have my outfits planned ahead for the week, my meals planned for the next week or two, my calendar with my agenda, so I know what’s going on in my busy life. If you know you are frantically getting ready in the morning or forgetting what lies ahead, having things planned ahead and written down will eliminate that hecticness. If you have to run to the grocery store that evening, you’ll already know the night before what you need to get. If you have a hard time, like me, deciding what to wear, having your weekly wardrobe planned will save you 10 – 30 minutes in the morning trying to figure it out. I even iron my clothes ahead of time to free up as much time in the morning as possible.  Have your lunch packed the night before. Put whatever you have to take with you to work by the door. All of these planning tips will make your morning routine that much easier.

Put Yourself First

If you have kids or pets to take care of, get yourself ready first.  Know how long you take to get ready and how long it takes your kids to get ready or how long it takes to take care of your pets. Allot the time accordingly.  Once you are ready to go, you don’t have to stress about still needing to do this or do that while brushing your child’s teeth. You can relax knowing you’re good, and now can properly devote your time to the person(s) or pet(s) in need.

P.S.  Today will be amazing, so wake up and smile. Positivity is a choice that becomes a lifestyle.
