My Quiet Time Routine

Having a quiet time with God is an important component in building that strong relationship you want to have with Him.

I love how still and peaceful my mornings are. The quietness in the house, the stillness of life outdoors, all work to creating the best quiet time for me.

When I first wake up, I’m at my calmest. So before the hustle and bustle of the day kicks in, I set time aside for my devotion.

I use this time in the morning to freshen up my beauty and my faith.

As soon as I wake, I remember to tell God, “thank you for blessing me with the opportunity to live to see another day.”

I get out of bed and head to the bathroom and brush my teeth and wash my face. This helps me to be more awake for my morning devotion.

For my “beauty” portion, I like to put on a face mask which not only freshens up my beauty, but it also takes me to a calming state.

As my facial mask dries, I go into my morning devotion and utilize my quiet time with God.

Here is what I incorporate into my quiet time with God.

Praise Through His Word

As part of my morning devotion and quiet time, I read a Psalm of praise each day. I have seven that I read each week, with a specific one assigned to a specific day. For example, every Sunday I read Psalm 113, every Monday I read Psalm 146.

In reading a Psalm of praise, I know that I am at least getting my minimal praise in each day and I’m starting my day off right.

Daily Lesson

I will read a chapter from Proverbs next. For this, I’ll read whatever chapter corresponds to the date. On the 18th of the month, I read Proverbs 18. There are 31 chapters in Proverbs which makes this reading plan fit perfectly for a Proverb a day.

I love how each time I read a chapter from Proverbs, God reveals a different lesson to me. This helps me to remember to live my life according to God’s Word.

Daily Verse

I use the Bible Verses app to get my daily Bible verses. This is another great way to make sure I am getting God’s Word.

Since I have a set Bible Reading Plan for each season, this is a great way to a verse from different books throughout the Bible in a random way.

I just love when the verse of the day is a message I needed to hear at that very moment.

Talk With God

At the end of my quiet time, I go into prayer. I recite prayers that I’ve found on Pinterest. There’s a prayer for every life situation. Many of the prayers I’ve found took the words I couldn’t find to say and says them as if I created the prayer myself.

To make sure I remember to give God a fraction of the thanks He deserves, I dedicate Sundays and Thursdays as my days of thanks. So on these days, all of my prayers are in the form of me thanking God.

Extra Quiet Time

Whenever I get into my car to drive, I use this as an extension to my quiet time. Of course, it can’t be completely quiet with the traffic and noises coming from other cars. But, my radio is off and I use this time to just speak to God.

I remember the days when I would jump in my car, say a prayer of protection along y travels and put my radio on. Even though I listened to the Gospel station, the first time I decided I want quiet time with God, I realized what I had been missing out on all of these years.

I love that extra time with God, especially on my way to work to soak up the peace and after work to calm down from all of the day’s challenges.

I find that extra quiet time to be so peaceful and so necessary.

The great thing about quiet time with God is that it will look different for everybody. I hope that I was able to provide you with some ideas on how to set up your quiet time with God!
