New Declutter Methods To Try

Are you wanting to declutter your home to create more space and simplify things?

H

I have been feeling a tad bit overwhelmed with all of the things I have in my home. Decluttering is a great way to make your home easier to clean and keep tidy. I love having a place for everything and being able to keep everything in its place.

When you declutter, you are getting rid of all of the things that you or your family members, don’t use, no longer need, or get any enjoyment from. I love doing the KonMari Method to help with making the decision on what says and what goes. This allows me to get rid of more stuff and stop trying to hold on to things not needed. With less stuff, it’s easier and quicker to clean up and keep things tidy.

Here are decluttering methods I’m trying this Spring.

H

Books

Get rid of books you’ve read and won’t read again. Get rid of books you’ve never read and have had for at least a year. You’re probably never going to read that book anyway.

H

Magazines

Recycle those old magazines that are just taking up space. How many times do you actually plan to read the same magazine over again? Do this each month, only keeping the latest two-three issues. If you don’t actually look at the magazines, stop your subscription like last.

H

Linen Closet

No matter how comfy it is, if it has a hole, throw it away. If it’s stained, toss it in the trash. Think about how many towels, sheets, comforters, etc. you actually need per person in your home and get rid of all of the access.

H

Bathroom Cabinets

The place that accumulates the most junk. If you’ve never used it, go ahead and throw it in the donate pile. If it’s expired, empty the bottle and recycle it. Having second thoughts? Toss it in the trash.

H

Bedside Tables

Clear off the tops from anything that doesn’t have a purpose being there (decor counts as a purpose). If it has drawers, clean out anything that you don’t need or want.

H

Closet

I use a 12-month rule. If I hadn’t worn it in a year because I chose not to, bye-bye. Old, torn, out of shape, doesn’t fit, or out of style goes into the trash. This includes any clothing item, shoes, and accessories.

H

Kitchenware

Never used kitchenware gets donated. Anything damaged gets thrown away. Too much of anything, donate the excess.

H

Fridge and Pantry

Old and expired food, well, the obvious.  Condense duplicates if possible.

H

Office Space

Get rid of old office supplies and technology, excess supplies, and unneeded office supplies. Free up storage space on your devices and delete unused apps.

H

Keep these thoughts in mind for decluttering other areas in your home!
