Our lives have completely shifted with all that has happened and continue to happen due to the Corona-Virus.

With change comes stress, and in our current pandemic, our lives are facing changes in every way.

Coping skills are methods a person uses to deal with stressful situations. For coping skills to work, they need to become a habit; taking practice, and becoming easier with time.

Here are some great coping skills that are highly recommended to keep you calm in stressful times.

  • Counting
  • Yoga or stretching 
  • Figure 8 breathing
  • Take a mindful walk
  • “Take 5” breathing
  • Positive self talk
  • Muscle relaxation: make a fist, hold for 10, then release
  • Take a break
  • Close your eyes and imagine an empty room
  • Count backward by 3 from 300
  • Listen to music
  • Dance or sing
  • Relaxation coloring
  • Exercise
