What Easter Really Means To Me

Easter is one of my favorite holidays.

I can remember loving it as a child. Not just because I got to get pretty new dresses, dye eggs, get candy, or recite my Easter Sunday speech.

Even as a child I understood the true meaning of Easter.

For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

Of course not as much as I understand it now. But I understood the sacrifice God made for me, little ol’ me. I loved the sacrifice Jesus made to save my soul, and for that, I have always been grateful.

Easter is a celebration of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It symbolizes what Jesus gave up so that I may be free from sin.

Let’s just sit on that for a moment.

Jesus gave his life so that my life would be free from sin. So that your life would be free from sin. And yet, we as Christians continue to overlook that every day.

This is why Easter is important to me. It reminds me of the way I should live my life. It reminds me of just how important my salvation is. It reminds me that if Jesus could sacrifice his life for me, I should be able to surrender my desires and will to God and lay all my own pride and fleshy needs at His feet.

Easter is not about the fancy dresses, the eggs, bunnies, or baskets. Easter is all about John 3:16. God’s love for you and will for your life.

Make sure you check out my favorite Easter Bible Verses to read this Easter Sunday.

What is your relationship like with Jesus Christ? Do you have a Bible-based Christian Church to call home? Living a Christian life is not one you have to live on your own. In fact, it’s challenging enough, so having a Church home to turn to for support is super important.
