10 Habits To Live Each Day Like The Proverbs 31 Woman

His year, I have really been focusing on living your life with intention. I have carried that focus into March with an even stronger focus on empowering and strengthening women. So, of course, I had to take another look at the Proverbs 31 Woman to see how we could incorporate her virtues into our lives to live with intention.

#1. Wake Up Early

She gets up while it is still night; she provides food for her family and portions for her female servants. (Proverbs 31:15)

The Proverbs 31 Woman wakes up early and gets a headstart on her day. I absolutely love getting up earlier and getting my day started. I’ve suggested having an early start in some of my previous get your life type posts. It’s something how much more you can get accomplished when you get an earlier start.

#2. Work with Willing Hands

She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks. (17)

Work with willing hands. This can be hard, especially for those of us who are struggling with the jobs we have. What I’ve noticed in my struggles, is that when I glorify God through my work, the day goes much better. So find a way to work willingly that will fit your needs and the type of job you have.

#3. Plan Accordingly

She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard. (16)

Carefully plan out your goals and desired accomplishments. The Proverbs 31 Woman is forward thinking. She thoughtfully considers what’s best for the future and utilizes it for growth. Without plans come disorganization and setbacks. Plan ahead to make way for smooth transitions in life.

#4. Have Compassion

She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy. (20)

Have compassion and be willing to help those in need. Think of all of the ways you can be of service to others.

#5. Be a Provider

She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies the merchants with sashes. (24)

The Proverbs 31 Woman was able to not only provide for others but she did it in such a way that she was able to still provide for herself and her family, and gain a profit in doing so. We often look at providing as giving and sacrifice. I see this as being a businesswoman. A strong woman who was wise and talented, and used her gifts to provide for herself and the ones she cared for.

#6. Be Wise

She speaks with wisdom (26a)

Do and speak with wisdom. Use God’s word to guide you with the decisions of your life. Speak with God for clarity and direction. And learn and know all that you can about what’s important to you.

#7. Be Prepared

When it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are clothed in scarlet. (21)

You’ve already planned, now prepare. Be diligent in the moves you make in life. Preparation is key to be on track for your success. Your preparation will give you the readiness to face your challenges and overcome them with God’s guidance.

#8. Preserve Your Character

Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her (28)

We refer to the Proverbs 31 Woman as a woman of virtue. Throughout the text, our outlook on her character never alters. Her actions are those that would continue to warrant a character of virtue and that is what we must do in our everyday lives. Ask yourself if what you are about to do fitting with who you are? If your answer is ever no, you already know that that action will alter your character.

#9 Show Kindness

And on her tongue is the law of kindness. (26b)

Showing kindness allows others to see God in us. Our actions are our first testimony that others see. We must remember this as we go about our lives and interact with others. It doesn’t cost us anything to be kind, but it costs us everything when we are not.

#10. Be God Fearing

Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. (30)

Have a real relationship with God. In doing so, will enable you to better understand what God is calling for you to do. God wants us to want Him. The only way of doing so is to read His word, communicate with Him, and build a real relationship with Him.
