Bible Verses to Help Overcome Low Self Esteem & Insecurities

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them.  And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good.
Genesis 1: 27, 28a, & 31a

It is so easy for us to fall into a spell of having low self-esteem and insecurities. Life has a tendency of handing us lemons, and at times, those lemons are a bit rotten. No matter how hard you try, you just can’t seem to catch a break.

Maybe God is trying to tell you something, but you are allowing your insecurities to get in the way of hearing Him. Not everything bad in life is bad. God is the creator of all things, good and bad. Sometimes bad things happen simply because you made a bad decision. Other times, bad things, or what we perceive to be bad, happens to us as a blessing.

Knowing who you are and whose you are, will help you overcome the feeling of low self-esteem and insecurity as you are going through your bad times. That’s why I started this post with the scripture from Genesis about the creation of man. Go back and read the chapter in its entirety paying close attention to why everything else was created before man. God did not create man last because He needed man to take care of the Earth. Man was created last because everything else was created in preparation for man, man needed everything else to survive. It’s like making all of the preparations for a party. You don’t have the party because of the preparations, you go through all of the preparations to have a great party. When God was done creating man and woman, notice His response and how it was different from His response to everything else He created. “It was very good.” God created you with that same response in mind.

You are a very good creation. No matter your struggle, no matter how you were raised or even conceived. You were uniquely created by God with a purpose and for a purpose.

Let’s look at ways in which God sees us as a very good creation.

You Are A Child of God 1 John 3:1

See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.

You Are God’s Workmanship – Ephesians 2:10

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

You Are Fearfully & Wonderfully Made – Psalm 139:14

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful,  I know that full well.

You Are Worth Dying For – Romans 5:7-9

For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

You Are Valuable – Isaiah 43:4

Since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because I love you, I will give people in exchange for you, nations in exchange for your life.

You Were Made In God’s Image – Genesis 1:27

So God created mankind in his own image,  in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

You Are Heirs of God  – Romans 8:17

Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

God Lives In You – 1 John 4:4

You are from God, little children, and you have conquered them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

You Are Loved – 1 John 4:19

We love because he first loved us.

You Are Chosen – Jeremiah 1:5

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

Your Body Is A Temple of The Holy Spirit – 1 Corinthians 6:19

Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;
