Fav Self Care/Pamper Habits

Today’s a great day for some self-love!

I love all things self-care/ pampering. Anything that will relieve stress and make me just that much more mentally joyful.

As I come to the end of my semester of grad school and the end of the school year as a teacher, I know how stressors can creep up on you and have you feeling drained and tired. I know I’m not the only one feeling this way and wanted to share some of my favorite pamper/self-care habits that melt all of my tension and stress away.

NIGHTLY YOGA

Last Summer I picked up the habit of a nightly yoga routine and have never felt so, exuberant. Yoga is known for having many health benefits, and now I am an advocate. The breathing technique and stretches are great for getting that oxygen flowing through your body and making you feel weightless. I can see a huge difference in my mood, tenseness, and level of patience, or lack thereof, on the days when I don’t do yoga the night before. And, it only takes about 10 minutes of yoga a day, to get me feeling my best.

GET SOME VITAMIN D

Making sure I get my daily dose of vitamin D is another self-care habit that’s on my favorites list. Not only do I take a Vitamin D3 supplement, but I also try to make sure I get some actual sun exposure each day. Sun exposure is known for helping to brighten up your mood.

DRINK PLENTY OF WATER

Drinking plenty of water is a must. On days when I haven’t had enough water, I feel sluggish and more prone to headaches. Water is a natural detox and your body also needs it to function properly.

QUIET TIME

Although I live alone, I still yearn for my quiet time. Right before bed and when first waking up, I spend my quiet time doing my spiritual devotion. I even find myself sitting in my car in the driveway an extra few minutes every so often. Whatever it takes to decompress from the stressors of the day, or prepare me to face what is to come, usually happens during my quiet time.

MAKING MYSELF EXTRA PRETTY

If someone would have told me ten years ago, how much I would love to get glammed up with makeup, I would not believe them. Well, here we are! Although I don’t wear makeup every day, when I do, I get an extra boost of confidence. Giving myself a manicure and pedicure comes far and few these days. However, whenever I get a chance to do either of the two, I just feel so relaxed. On top of being relaxed, my nails look pretty good as well.

STEAMY HOT SHOWER

Another one of my favorite pamper habits is taking a steamy hot shower to help me relax and detox. I just love how my muscle feel when the water massages them, and how my body feels like I’ve gotten rid of so much baggage in toxins. An added tip is to use eucalyptus or sage to help get rid of toxins.
