How to Be a Godly Dad

How to Be a Godly Dad

Father’s Day is just a few days away and being a father has its many challenges. Here are some great pointers for all of the dads out there on how to be a Godly dad that will make fathering much easier.

The father of a righteous child has great joy; a man who fathers a wise son rejoices in him. Proverbs 23:24

As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him.  Psalm 103:13

Finally, be strong in the Lord & in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh & blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world & against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, & after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, & with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation & the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers & requests. With this in mind, be alert & always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Ephesians 6:10-18

And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Ephesians 6:4

Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged. Colossians 3:21

Whoever fears the Lord has a secure fortress, & for their children it will be a refuge. Proverbs 14:26

Start children off on the way they should go, & even when they are old they will not turn from it. Proverbs 22:6

Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their opponents in court.” Psalm 127:3-5

My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline, & do not resent his rebuke, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in. Proverbs 3:11-12

P.S. A father is neither an anchor to hold us back, nor a sail to take us there, but a guiding light whose love shows us the way. – unknown
