Spring 2021 Night Routine

It’s officially Spring, and I am so excited to change up my nighttime routine. As I always say, how you end your day determines how you sleep and how the next day will run.

Every Spring I love to change things up to reflect what changes are going on in my life. So much is different this year from last Spring. For one, I don’t have the pleasure of working from home as I did then and my nighttime routine must reflect that.

Here’s my updated night routine that is working best for me. It allows me to go to bed and wake up to a fresh start.

Arrive Home From Work

Once I arrive home from work, I get out of my work clothes and  I work on my online content for According To Tish. I finish up and publish my blog posts, edit videos, or post content on Instagram.

On Tuesday nights, things are a little different because I have my class for Grad school twice a month. On those days, I try not to work on content, but that doesn’t always work. If I have an assignment due, I will spend time completing that assignment rather than working on content.

Cook Dinner/ Eat

Since I only cook for one, I always have leftovers. If it’s a night that I have to cook, I’ll get dinner ready and continue to work on content while it’s cooking

If it’s a leftover night, I’ll warm up my food and eat my dinner while finishing up content. I know, it’s not the best thing to do. Once I’m done eating, I get right back to work or finishing my assignment depending on the night.

Prep For Next Day

This is probably the most important part of my routine to ensure a stress-free morning. This is when I get everything I need for the next day ready. I use this time to get my lunch and snacks ready for a quick and easy grab in the morning. If I didn’t prepare my clothes and breakfast on Sunday night, I will set my clothes aside so I don’t have to worry about finding something to wear and leaving out something for breakfast.  Any items I need to take with me to work, I put them in my bag or by the door for easy access and so I didn’t forget them.

Shower & Wash Face

Now it’s time for bed. I try to shower at night because I always have an earlier start to my morning when I do. It’s like it makes me wake up with more energy and motivation to get my day started.

My face cleansing routine is different at night than in the morning. I’m currently using the Dr. Zenovia acne skincare system along with DermaE that I got as collaborations for Instagram. For my eyes, I use Vitamin E as my eye serum, Foligan eyelash serum on my lashes, and Carmax for my lips.

h

Yoga

To completely unwind and relieve stress from the day, I do a yoga session using videos from Yoga with Adrienne on YouTube. I normally do the winddown session for about 12 minutes.

Nighttime Devotion

For my night devotion, I read Psalm 23 and 63, and Matthew 6:9.

After reading my nightly scriptures, I read a verse of the day from my Bible Verses app. Then I go to my “Keep Calm and Pray” board on Pinterest for my nighttime prayers. I have pinned prayers to recite nightly that are great for easing your mind for a relaxing night’s rest.

Make sure you head over and follow me on Pinterest!

Go To Bed

To help me fall asleep, I turn on my Calm app and listen to a Sleep story. At this point, I know everything I needed to do for the night is done, and all of my prep work for the morning is done. Since I’m already in the bed for my nightly devotion, all I need to do is turn off my lamp, close my eyes, listen to my sleep story, and go to sleep.
